Diavelli Ingri Ansnes, sister of Ingri by Ingri Ingri Ansnes is a Norwegian pianist, born in 1978 in Karmøy, Rogaland province, on the west coast of Norway. She studied with Joanne Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and with Izzy Hlinka at the Barat-Douhet School of Music in Oslo, and was awarded the Janacek Prize at the 2003 Filksny Competition in the Czech Republic. In addition to her work as a soloist, she has performed with musicians including Thorvej Klingelborn, Arve Tellefsen, Håvard Gimse, and the Norwegian Soloist Choir. 2010 she played Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 12 on the Telemark Chamber Orchestra's album Her unaffected, charming music has been well received by audiences and critics at home and abroad. The "Diabelli Variations," which she chose as the program for her first solo album, "33+1," is a piece that she played to "regain control, strength, and love of my muscles after a long absence due to illness" when she returned to the pianist's chair. Beethoven completed the "33" Variations after writing his last piano sonata, No. 32. I believe the "Diabelli Variations" must have been 'thrown at me' at the exact moment I needed it. What I needed was music that demanded great technical challenge, that demanded strength, patience, and immersion in the music. ...... I wanted to feel the passion, the deep emotional movement, the vulnerability, and, most importantly, the 'power. In 2012, her interest in working beyond the piano's traditional role led her to perform the piece in American playwright Moises Kaufman's production of "33 Variations" at the Norwegian Theatre in Oslo, where it is now an important part of her repertoire. She has tried something new with this recording of the "Diabelli Variations.At the end of the 32nd variation of the "Fugue" and moving into the final "Tempo di minueto moderato," the transitional phrase "Poco adagio" written by Beethoven is replaced by a 4:46-minute "Cadenza" for piano and effector "EBow" by Lars Petter Hagen will be performed. Hagen says that he was happy to receive the commission from her, though with great trepidation. I have nothing to add to Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations. If you add something, what is meant to be an addition becomes a subtraction. Here, by interrupting, I have tried to limit Beethoven. I wanted to give his music a new framework, or 'shadow. That's what I wanted to do." The recording session took place in August 2015 at the Sofienberg Church in Oslo. The piano is an 1893 Steinway, restored in 2010 and produced by Simax's chief producer, Amundsen. King International.
