Second album by the Ostrobothnia Chamber Orchestra featuring works by four musicians who share a view of nature and music with Marlin Broumans, who will serve as Artistic Director! The Ostrobothnia Chamber Orchestra released its first album, Stockholm Diary (ABCD 467), in 2022 with Swedish violinist Marlin Broumans (1975-), who will serve as artistic director beginning in 2019. The album featured works by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Sally Beamish, Schoenberg, and Stravinsky, and appealed to a different personality than that of Juha Kangas and Sakari Oramo. The second album, Recharged by Nature, features a program of works by four people with whom she shares a similar view of nature and music, including Blueman's longtime friend, Büström. Andrea Tallodi is considered one of Sweden's most internationally known composers, and her works have been performed throughout Europe in recent years. The Acanthus was inspired by Henri Matisse's series of \"Paper Cutouts\" depicting \"stylized acanthus against a white background. It was composed as a \"concerto for two violins and string orchestra,\" and a recording session was held with Finnish composer Pekka Kuusisto. Mats Larsson Gute is another Swedish composer. Songs of the Earth was commissioned by the Ostrobothnia Chamber Orchestra. The title of the piece has nothing to do with the works of Gustav Mahler, but rather with the idea of \"folk-music-like compost, music that emerges from the earth. The five Arabic scales of the \"maqam\" are used as material for the piece. Britta Büström's \"Outdoors\" was composed in a few months in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic for this \"concerto\" for Merlin Blumann. The Swedish title of the piece, \"i det fria,\" expresses the composer's wish to be \"free\" as well as \"out of doors\" as opposed to \"imprisoned\" or \"under lockdown. The piece is, metaphorically speaking, a long and painful musical journey, a trek\" (Britta Büström). The composition was inspired by traditional West African music, and its influence is reflected in the drum beats. Sauli Ginoviev is one of the youngest generation of Finnish composers. He played electric guitar in a rock band, and his interest in composition led him to study with Tapio Nevanlinna at the Sibelius Academy and Wolfgang Rihm at the Karlsruhe College of Music. Recharged\" is a revision of a piece he wrote as a student. An \"electrifying and rhythmic\" work, it was premiered by the Ostrobothnia Chamber Orchestra on April 13, 2019, under the baton of Klaus Makela, and has since been performed in concerts in Finland and Sweden, as well as in Central Europe, continuing to impact audiences.
