Description:

All recordings on the EMI Classics & Finlandia labels on the 95th anniversary of Paavo Berglund's birth, especially of Scandinavian works, are included, filled with deep emotion and flavor.BOXFamous conductor Paavo Berglund, who is also famous for holding a conducting stick in his left hand, was born on April 14, 1929 in Helsinki, Finland. He was born in Helsinki, Finland on April 14, 1929, and studied violin from the age of 11. He also studied conducting at the Sibelius Academy in addition to violin. He began his professional career as a violinist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1949, and in 1952 he formed the Helsinki Chamber Orchestra, which he conducted with other musicians. From 1972 to 1979 he was Principal Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in England, and from 1975 to 1981 he was Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra in his home country. In addition to the music of his homeland and much of Scandinavia, he was able to demonstrate his talent for Russian music (especially Shostakovich) and British music, including Vaughan Williams and Bliss. After serving in Bournemouth and Helsinki, he conducted all the major British orchestras as well as the Berlin Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Staatskapelle Dresden, New York Philharmonic, and Cleveland Orchestra. In particular, he was recognized as the father figure of the modern Sibelius conductor. He has recorded the complete symphonies of Sibelius three times, with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in the 1970s, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra from 1984-1987, and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe from 1995-1997, and has been a Sibelius specialist since the beginning of his career, studying and performing his native Sibelius throughout the world. He has performed all over the world, and each performance is a definitive achievement, a dialectic conductor of the introverted, self-critical composer, with the mysterious, cold, yet soft, milky snowscape of Sibelius' works. His name is also widely known as the man who introduced the "Clervo Symphony," which was a phantom work. Each disc is enclosed in a paper jacket with the original jacket design, and the 24-page booklet features a contribution by David Nys, former music critic for The Guardian (now music critic for BBC Music Magazine), written at the time Berglund was gone (European text only. ) Warner Music Japan
