His father and grandfather were bandmasters at the local church, and his father in particular was an excellent cornet player, so he was exposed to the sounds of the organ and brass from an early age. He eventually began to play the trumpet himself, and from the age of 16 he was composing music for his friends to play. Since then, he has played in various ensembles, gaining a wide variety of experience. Lambert also took organ lessons, and the works on this album were composed primarily to commemorate special occasions of his friends and acquaintances.
