A student of Beethoven, Ries devoted his entire life to composing string quartets and quintets, as well as piano pieces; the C major string quintet, written in 1809, was dedicated to the violinist who founded the \"Spanzig Quartet\" in the 1790s, It was dedicated to Ignaz Spanzig, a violinist who founded the \"Spanzig Quartet\" in the 1790s, and is a work in which the virtuosity of the violins and other instruments can be fully appreciated.
