Although Adler showed early musical talent with his father, who was a choir cantor, he fled with his family to the United States when he was 11 years old. He eventually decided to become a composer by studying with Hindemith, Copland, Thompson, and others, and since then he has written a great deal of music that is uniquely American contemporary music with a Jewish musical tradition. This album features the \"Arcos Concerto\" in the concerto grosso style of the Baroque period, as well as original works, homages to Bach, and arrangements for string orchestra of works by Ives and Holst that pay homage to tradition. Founded in 2010 by conductor Dongmin Kim, the New York Classical Players is an ensemble that offers all of its concerts in the New York metropolitan area free of charge, based on the belief that \"listening to great music is one of our basic human rights. It is known for performing with master musicians who share this philosophy.
