Onofri, one of the world's great violinists and conductors of ancient music, has now turned his attention to recording the Stabat Mater, which has since been scattered and transformed in many different places! This CD features the version performed by Juan Frances de Iribarren when she was music director of the Málaga Cathedral in Spain, from the five manuscripts of the \"Stabat Mater\" that remain in the archives of the cathedral. Note the \"Iribarén Revised Version,\" which sometimes makes bold changes rather than faithfully transcribing the original work.
