The original subtitle of the piece is \"American Interludes,\" which describes the special relationship between the United States and the Republic of Korea. Three famous American melodies appear in the piece: \"Simple Gifts,\" \"Amazing Grace,\" and \"Fanfare for Citizens,\" which Copland used in \"Appalachian Spring,\" as well as the melody of \"Arirang,\" a typical Korean song. The album features a revised version of the original version of \"Arirang\". This album contains a performance of the revised 2020 version. The album also includes a related work, \"Fanfare for Heroes of the Korean War,\" and two \"Symphonies of Strings. Both have a distinctive style, the first originally a revision of his own Guitar Quartet No. 3. It is an original work in which the melody of \"La Follia\" unfolds in a variety of forms. The second piece uses an old Jewish melody, but no violins are used in the performance.
