In contrast to his brother Alessandro, who was a prolific artist, Benedetto Marcello left behind nearly 700 works, which are still popular today. One of his best-known works is a collection of 50 psalms, including 11 ancient Jewish songs and two Greek hymns, entitled \"Estro poetico-armonico. In this album, Psalm 21 and Psalm 42 are selected from the collection and are performed together with sonatas for violin and harpsichord. Ensemble Salamone Rossi, in which cellist Issei Watanabe participates, is an ancient music ensemble founded by Lidia Cevidalli in 1991. Based in Belgium, the ensemble has performed in Spain, the U.S., and recently appeared in a BBC documentary.
