If you enjoy the famous steel pan (steel drum) music of the small Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago, you can't go wrong with The Esso Trinidad Steel Band's album. Produced by Van Dyke Parks and later reappraised in the free soul scene, their two albums (both released in 1967) are just as fun and comfortable with steel drums as their 1971 masterpiece. The unexpected affinity between familiar Christmas melodies and the powerful sound of steel drums on \"Calypso Christmas\" is a real eye-opener, and \"On Tour\" offers a glimpse of their sales scene, playing the pop hits of the day in a happy, unabashedly joyful manner. A new definitive resort album that can be enjoyed throughout the year is born here!
