Songhoy Blues, one of Mali's most beloved and acclaimed bands, releases their fourth album, Heritage. The album is a more acoustic and creative reworking of the "desert blues" style that brought them international acclaim. It is a clear contrast to the heavier sound of their previous album and a deeper exploration of their musical roots. Charismatic, articulate, and creative, the band burst onto the scene in 2013 with a powerful style and stage manner once described as "Tombouctou punk." Their music deals with life and love in Mali, filtered through a filter of five scales, rock rhythms, gritty vocals, and glittering guitars. These elements are still present in "Heritage," but the more pronounced and intimate grooves, sounds, instrumentation, and vocal styles share the traditions and stages of the various ethnic groups within Mali. The album was recorded at Remote Records Studio and Studio Moffou in Bamako with co-producer Paul Chandler. Bamako's rich musical talent is brought to life, infused with the ethereal sounds of a variety of traditional instruments by some of Mali's greatest masters, including kora (harp), sok (one-string fiddle), kamalengoni (eight-string youth harp), flute, senufo xylophone, calabash percussion, and guest vocalists. Since their 2015 debut, Music In Exile, Songhoy Blues has arguably been one of the most exciting and captivating African live acts of the past decade, racking up remarkable achievements. From early collaborations with music icons Damon Albarn, Iggy Pop, and Nick Zinner, to unforgettable sets at Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage and festivals around the world, to Nile Rodgers' Meltdown Fest From shutting down the Royal Albert Hall for an appearance to rocking legendary NYC spots Max Fish and Union Pool, this band has always delivered a memorable live experience.

Tracklisting:

.Toukambela
.Gambary
.Norou
.Dagabi
.Gara
.Boutiki
.Boroterey
.Batto
.Garibou
.Woyhenna
.Issa
