Anne Hirsch is a guitarist based in Weimar. In recent years she has been active as a soloist and chamber musician. Here she plays the precise polyphonic writing of Bach's Suite for Lute with a lustrous tone. In contrast, Pons' 24 Preludes combines polyphonic writing that seems to have been inspired by Bach with the Latin clarity and optimism of Tárrega and other Spanish composers. Hirsch also plays beautifully here, with a beautiful tone. The booklet includes a generous tribute to Toru Takemitsu, and we can look forward to many more recordings of Takemitsu's guitar works in the future.
