Reissued from the archives of the Detmold University of Music! To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Detmold University of Music in Germany, various live recordings from 1966 to 1981 have been collected. Among them, the Berg Violin Concerto played by Tibor Varga is especially valuable. Varga was one of the violinists who popularized this piece, performing it in its Vienna and Australian premieres, but until now there have been no recordings of this piece, which is a great joy for fans. Although he was 58 years old at the time and had some technical difficulties, his enthusiasm was superb. Hans Richter-Haeser, a renowned pianist, gave a wonderful recital, including encores. The first half featured Beethoven, his specialty, with Mussorgsky's \"Pictures at an Exhibition\" as the main piece. There were also many interesting recordings of Bach by Helmut Winshaman and Brahms by André Navarre. All of the recordings seem to have been made for recording purposes, and the sound quality is mixed, with the one labeled \"poor stereo\" having an almost mono instrumental image. Still, it is a delightful 4-CD set.
