The \"Atatka Quartet\" won the Best Chamber Music Small Ensemble Performance Award. The Atataka Quartet is a string quartet formed in 2003 by four students at the Juilliard School of Music at the urging of American composer Caroline Shaw. Keiko Tokunaga says, \"Caroline Shaw's music is simple but has the power to move the heart. We have produced this CD, \"Orange,\" with the hope that as many people as possible will be able to listen to her world of sound. The entire group is truly grateful to receive such a prestigious award for a work that took several years to complete.To celebrate the Grammy award of this CD, it will be released in a limited edition as a picture analog 180g LP with a design of orange, as the title suggests. *Since Keiko Tokunaga, the second violinist, retired in 2019, Domenic Salerni, the first violinist of the Dali String Quartet, has joined the quartet. The album is the first release in a partnership with Nonesuch Records and the similarly conceptual New Amsterdam Records, and is a string quartet work by the much talked about American composer Caroline Shaw. The work has a motto-music concept of the birth of an orange, and emphasizes simple harmonic changes like those of Ravel, Bartók, Bach, Monteverdi, and others, and as she says, \"The purest music can be played by a string quartet,\" and it has been performed by the highly acclaimed American \" The purest music is played by the Atacca Quartet,\" she says.
