She then made a dramatic comeback with her 1979 album "Broken English," despite the ups and downs of her life, including drinking, drugs, and repeated suicide attempts. Produced by Daniel Lanois and Mark Howard, the album was recorded at Teatro Studios in California, with Roger Waters and Emmylou Harris also participating in the recording process. In VAGABOND WAYS, she sings original songs based on memories that didn't make it into her autobiography and on her views on social struggles that particularly moved her, as well as new interpretations of Leonard Cohen's "Tower Song".
