Verdi (1813-1901)

Description:

Verdi's "The Pirate", which has been rapidly gaining popularity in recent years, is now on film at the small Busseto theater! With Japanese subtitles! Verdi's "The Pirates" is an opera first performed in Trieste on October 25, 1848. Based on Byron's masterpiece "The Pirates". For a long time, this opera had a bad reputation as a work of art that Verdi composed reluctantly under contract and did not even attend the premiere. However, in the last decade or so, despite its weaknesses, Verdi's ambitious music has been reappraised here and there, and excellent performances of his operas have been given in various parts of the country, as he markedly improved his abilities as an opera composer in the late 1840s. The performance recorded here was given at the 2008 Verdi Festival. It was performed not at the Teatro Regio in Parma, but at the Teatro Verdi in Busseto, which is even closer to Verdi's birthplace. The performance in a small theater with only 300 seats is full of unique enthusiasm. The singers are mainly young. Bruno Ribeiro of Corrado is a Portuguese tenor. His voice is slightly light, but has a solid core and resonates well. He is now active in Italy, Germany, France, and North America. Irina Lungu, a Moldovan-born soprano, sang Violetta in "Traviata" at La Scala in July 2007 as an emergency replacement for Georgiou, who left the company in July 2007, and was a great success. Since then, she has performed all over Europe. Luca Salsi, a sade, is a baritone born in San Secondo Palmense near Parma. In December 2012, he sang Count Luna in "Trovatore" in Bologna, and in June this year he will sing the title role in "Macbeth" in Florence.Silvia Dalla Benetta, the Grunara, is a mid-career soprano born in Vicenza. She specializes in coloratura roles and sings a wide range of roles from light to norma. Carlo Montanaro, conductor, is a mid-career Italian conductor. He is currently the music director of the Warsaw Grand Theater in Poland. In Japan, he has appeared twice at the New National Theatre, first in Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" in January 2009 to great acclaim, and again in "The Barber of Seville" in November and December 2012. Veteran Italian director Lamberto Puggelli's stage was originally designed for the Teatro Reggio, but was moved to the smaller Teatro Verdi in Busseto. The stage was originally designed to be compact with a simple stage set, so it fits well on the small stage. King International
