Description:
Edgar Moreau's ardent and thrilling performance that answers the exacting demands of the instrument! Edgar Moreau was born in Paris in 1994 and began playing the cello at the age of 4 and the piano at 6. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris with Philippe Muller and at the Kronberg Academy in Germany with Frans Helmersson; 2nd prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011, 1st prize at the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 2014, 2013 and 2015. He was awarded the Victoire de la Musique Classique and was named an ECHO Rising Star in 2017. He has performed with numerous top conductors, orchestras, and chamber musicians, and has been invited to perform at music festivals around the world. he has been a professor of cello at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris since the fall of 2023. In Edgar Moreau's "Variations on a Rococo Theme," he plays the music as a kind of animation, free to act at will without the luxury of thick classical enjoyment, carefully observing each variation as soft and graceful as a diffuser. While adhering to the strict demands on the instrument, a moderate vibrato keeps the first theme free and touchable as a natural form. In a true sense, the interpretation of each variation is based on all the elements. Relentless precision serves as the architectural expert for the precise task at hand. The quiet melodious expression that composes to sustain the intellect is the beauty of Edgar Moreau's tone, using a David Teichler cello from 1711. The finale is at its most impassioned and thrilling, and throughout, this will feel like the right way to approach the new Tchaikovsky. The Chopin sonatas in the second half, as well as the smaller pieces arranged for cello and piano, are expressive and differently romantic here. Known as excellent soloists, David Kadusch and Edgar Moreau are also a close-knit and well-balanced chamber music duo who play with passion and dedication. The effect is that of a great singer, and it is not just a matter of technical control, but a passionate emotional response that results in a rich, beautifully balanced sound picture.
