[The four major sonatas of Beethoven by Goulda, one of the most famous pianists of the 20th century, who passed away in 2000 at the age of 69. Goulda recorded the first Beethoven: Complete Piano Sonatas in the 1950s, but the four pieces recorded here are from the second complete Beethoven cycle recorded at once from July to August in 1967. The performances are of a high degree of perfection, clearly expressing the character of each piece. This is a masterpiece of Beethoven's sonatas and should be selected as the first choice.
