[The Art of Claudio Arrau] Claudio Arrau (1903-1991) was a Chilean pianist active mainly in the United States. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death, this is an encore pressing of the "The Art of Claudio Arrau" series released in 2011. Arrau recorded all of Chopin's piano works with orchestral accompaniment, and his performances were highly acclaimed as masterpieces that brought out the genuine essence of the works as only Arrau could express them. In the second concerto, too, Arau expresses the flight of the young Chopin with his marcato touch, sprightly and flexible phrasing, and imposing compositional power. This is a Japan-only project.
