Jazz legend Chick Corea (1941-) and classical guitar virtuoso Flavio Cucchi (1949-) have been close friends since a chance encounter in Los Angeles in the late 1980s, and say they have sometimes performed together across genres and discussed their approaches to their work. On this latest 2018 album, Kukki not only performs "Luminations," which Collier wrote for Kukki, but also "Children's Songs," a piano piece that Kukki himself arranged for guitar; because it is arranged for two guitars, Kukki performs with a variety of partners at concerts. On this album, he uses multiple recordings to perform the parts for two players, successfully conveying the work's appeal to the audience to the fullest extent.
