Rossini (1792-1868)
Description:
Rossini, who had achieved great success at a young age, announced his retirement from the world of opera at the age of 37. After that, he composed small piano pieces and songs from time to time, which he enjoyed performing in private. All of these works, as well as some small pieces and sketches he had written during his career, were given to his second wife, Olump, who took steps to ensure that they could not be published without his permission. This collection, "The Mischiefs of Old Age," contains a truly diverse range of works, and with the recent discovery of yet another new manuscript, it is an important collection for Rossini scholars and lovers alike. The works included in this eighth collection are especially rare, including many world premiere recordings of violin pieces and choral pieces. Enjoy the intimate performance led by Marangoni on piano. Naxos Japan
