(Naoya Hirabayashi)Audite released Furtwängler's "Complete RIAS Broadcast Recordings" (12CD) (AU21403) in 2009, using the original 76 cm/second master from the Deutschland Radio (former RIAS Broadcasting) collection. In 2012, four of these recordings, including "Fate" and "The Countryside" (1947 & 1954), Schubert's "Unfinished" and "The Great", and Bruckner's 8th, were released on SACD single layer (all currently out of print), and these four discs are the continuation of that release. SACD is the best format currently available, and fans will love the fact that the sound quality is one step closer to that of the original recording. The inner voices are also very clear, and the spatial expanse is richer, with the individual parts sounding smoother and more natural.
