This is the first album in eight years from Chris Baird, the son of Joe Baird, who was close friends with Matt "Guitar" Murphy and Buddy Guy, and whose debut album was immediately nominated for a Blues Music Award! The album features funky and jazzy New York blues, mainly originals, and songs produced by Johnny Rawls, the Campbell Brothers, and Kenny Neal on guitar. The sharp guitars and powerful vocals are truly worthy of the name "Prince of the Blues. Chris Baird was born in Rochester, New York in 1957. His father is Joe Baird, a blues guitarist. He began playing guitar at the age of 6, and at the age of 15, he started playing in his father's band, and then in a variety of other bands. After 20 years as a professional local musician, he finally made his late-blooming solo debut in 1997 with "Barwalkin'" on JSP.Produced by Johnny Rawls, the album was suddenly nominated for Best New Artist at the Blues Music Awards, and in 1999 won a New Artist Award from Blue Beat Magazine. Since then, he has consistently released albums at his own pace, including "Born to Play the Blues" in 2001, "Live Wire" in 2005, and "Who I Am and What I Do" in 2010, which featured Ronnie Baker Brooks as a guest. His latest release is "Eye of the Witch" in 2015.
