Description:

Bronislav Gimpel's Violin Unprecedented Volume of Berlin RIAS Recordings Revived from Original Masters★The latest edition of audite's "Deutschland Radio Kultur Edition", which has gained a reputation for its outstanding high sound quality reissue. Gimpel was a child prodigy, and was known as "Bronislav II" in reference to the famous Hubermann. He was once a concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, and is still very popular as a soloist, as evidenced by his many recordings on Oirodisc and other labels. The Globe Dictionary of Music describes his artistic style as "gifted and technically gifted, with a strong vibrato and passionate music in his youth. This is a valuable set that allows you to enjoy the charm of the violin art of the past.● Bronislav GimpelBronislav Gimpel (1911-1979), American violinist, was born in Lviv (also Lvov) in the western part of what is now the Ukrainian Republic and died in Los Angeles. Gimpel grew up in an artistic family: his grandfather founded the Yiddish Theater, his father played clarinet and violin and conducted a small theater orchestra, and his brother Jacob (1906-1989) was also an acclaimed pianist. Gimpel studied at the Conservatory of Music in Vienna with Robert Pollack (who soon became a teacher of the young Isaac Stern in San Francisco) from 1922-26, and at the Berlin University of Music with Carl Flesch from 1928 to 1929.At the age of 14, Gimpel made his debut with the Vienna Philharmonic, playing Goltmark's Violin Concerto, and was hailed as a child prodigy, even performing before the King of Italy and Pope Pius XI in 1926. Gimpel was concertmaster of the Königsberg Orchestra (1929-1931), the Göteborg Symphony Orchestra (1931-1936), and the Los Angeles Philharmonic (1937-1942), and won a prize at the first Wieniawski International Violin Competition in 1935. He also won a prize at the first Wieniawski International Violin Competition in 1935. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, Gimpel resumed his career as a soloist in the U.S. and Europe from 1947 onward. He also toured the world as a member of the American Artists Quartet, New Friends Piano Quartet, and Mann's Piano Trio, and was a professor at the University of Connecticut from 1967 to 1973, teaching younger students and making his first visit to Japan in 1964.
