Description:

Christian Järvi makes his first appearance at Chandos! Christian Järvi, a young maverick from the Järvi family, whose father is the great master Nämé Järvi and whose brother is the fast-rising Paavo Järvi, makes his first appearance in Chandos with a major work by Franz Schmidt! The oratorio "The Book of the Seven Seals," which depicts the Last Judgment of the New Testament and the Book of Revelation, is a masterpiece of Franz Schmidt's last years. The performance required many vocal soloists, an organ, a large orchestra, and a mixed chorus, and the grand scale of "The Last Judgment" is renowned as a masterpiece representing modern oratorio. Christian Järvi, who has held posts such as music director of the Absolute Ensemble, which he founded, and principal conductor of the Norrland Opera Symphony Orchestra (Sweden), currently serves as both principal conductor and music director of the prestigious Tonküssler Orchestra in Austria, demonstrating the rapid pace of evolution of the orchestra to the world.Christian Järvi has a world-class reputation and achievement surpassing that of his father Nehme and brother Pävo, especially in the performance and interpretation of modern and contemporary works and large-ensemble works. Recorded live at the Musikvereinsaal in Vienna on September 29 & October 2, 2005. [Comment courtesy of Tokyo M-Plus Co.
