Description:

Composer Ferdinand Hiller was recognized by the great musicians of the Romantic era! Hyperion's popular "Romantic Piano Concerto Series" (RPC Series), which uncovers the hidden piano concertos of the Romantic era that have remained hidden in the shadows of history, is back with its 45th release! The latest release in the RPC series is a collection of piano concertos by Ferdinand Hiller, a 19th century German musician! Born the son of a wealthy Jewish merchant, Hiller showed great musical talent from an early age, and studied under Hummel in Weimar. He is known for his success as a musician who was admired by the great musicians of his generation, including Schumann, with whom he had a close friendship, for his piano concertos.Although Hiller established his reputation through his friendship with Mendelssohn, Brahms, Berlioz, Chopin, Wagner, Alkan, and the aforementioned Schumann, his works were gradually buried by the changing styles of Romantic music. Three piano concertos are indispensable to the story of the composer Ferdinand Hiller, especially the Piano Concerto No. 2. Hyperion has long been looking for an opportunity to record the "Piano Concerto No. 2" in particular and strongly recommends it as a genuine forgotten masterpiece, so there is a sense of the birth of a definitive recording. The two works, "Piano Concerto No. 1" and "Piano Concerto No. 3," are world premiere recordings. The three piano concertos left behind by Hiller will be presented by Howard Shelley and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, who have been working tirelessly as the leading duo in this series.Of course, Shelley's masterful playing style, which she has demonstrated on previous releases of Moschles, Ertz, Kalkbrenner, and Bennett & Beisch, is still there! Expect more to come! [Comment courtesy of Tokyo M-Plus Co.
