Naturally, the music world was also abuzz with excitement for these occasions, so the “elder statesman” Alessandro Scarlatti (1660–1725) was commissioned to compose a Passion oratorio, while the talented “young up-and-comer” Handel, then 23 years old, was commissioned to compose a Resurrection oratorio. This piece by Scarlatti, written in the Italian style, displays the most mature compositional technique of his entire oeuvre, but unfortunately, it has been all but forgotten. Although it is a Passion oratorio, it is based on a different concept than Bach’s works and is written in the clear, simple sounds characteristic of the early Baroque style—as exemplified by Monteverdi and Cavalli—and the Galant style.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Capriccio","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595590099233,"sku":"845221051260","price":33.0,"currency_code":"SGD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/845221051260.jpg?v=1790481816","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-sg\/products\/845221051260","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
