This is the first recording of cellist Nils Schulvest of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (Danish Radio (DR) Symphony Orchestra) as soloist. Schulvest studied at the Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with Ehring Brendahl Bengtsson and joined the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in 1980. He has also been a soloist and won the Jacob Geese Prize with the Danish Quartet, which he joined from 1984 to 1988. He is a well-known \"left-handed\" cellist, playing a cello modified \"for Nils\" from an instrument made by Joannes (Giovanni) Galliano in 1811.Pianist Mimi Bierkelon studied at the Danish Music Academy under Amelie Maring, graduating in 1991. She studied with Hans Paulsson in Lund, Sweden. She made her debut as a soloist playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Danish Radio Chamber Orchestra at their concerts in Copenhagen and Malmö, and is also active as a chamber musician.
