Pianist Kenshi Miura, who moved to Dubai as a young boy and began performing in the U.K. as a pianist. He is a gifted pianist who came to Dubai as a young boy to study music in England and Berlin, but after a period of time away from music and self-reflection, he returned to music and won first prize at the 2019 Ron-Thibault Crespin International Competition. This debut album reflects all of his present, which he says \"reflects my own struggles with my identity,\" as well as his careful selection of songs. The album begins with Franck's \"Preludes, Fugues, and Variations,\" which was strongly influenced by German musical ideology despite his activities in France, continues with two works by Takemitsu that fuse the qualities of East and West, and then features works by Ravel and Debussy, who (in Miura's opinion) never belong to the \"impressionist\" school, along with a bonus track, \"Mazur\" by Godard. The sequence of works, which ends with Godard's \"Mazurka\" as a bonus track, brings a sense of comfort to the listener, but also demands deep contemplation of \"What is the music we are listening to now? and \"What is the music we are listening to now? Miura puts so much meaning into each note of his performance. The music he spins will leave you with a feeling of something that goes beyond such mere compliments as \"beautiful sound and skillful technique. Miura is a good father in private and a friendly face on social networking sites. However, he is passionate about music, and his passion is expressed in the liner notes that he wrote himself. The church used for this recording is a chapel built around 993 and rebuilt by Louis VII, which was used as an auto repair shop after the war. It is now the headquarters of the Cihra Foundation. The recording also features a Yamaha piano, which was owned and used by Cihra for performances and recordings.
