The two are so well matched that a studio recording of the complete concerto cycle was made after this live performance. The \"Emperor\" is a rare live performance with Curzon, a close friend of Szell who dislikes recordings. The performance is different from the heavy Beethoven concertos in that it is stylish in a severe way, which is typical of Curzon.
