The culmination of a relationship of trust built up over many years! The complete Beethoven symphonies by Blomstedt are now available. The orchestra is the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, of which Blomstedt was chef for seven years from 1998 to 2005; as of 2017, he is still regularly on the podium as honorary conductor, earning his immense trust. Blomstedt celebrates his 90th birthday in July 2017, and ACCENTMUS MUSIC commemorates this occasion by releasing a CD set of the complete Beethoven symphonies recorded by the duo between 2014 and 2017, celebrating the glory of the great master. The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, one of the world's oldest and most prestigious orchestras, has recorded complete Beethoven symphonies with Konwitschny, Mazur, and Chailly, and they too have made history. However, Blomstedt had not recorded any Beethoven symphonies during his tenure with the orchestra, and this is the long-awaited recording. This is Blomstedt's second recording of the complete works, having previously recorded the complete works with the Staatskapelle Dresden. Blomstedt's interpretation follows Beethoven's original metronome markings, and his performance, carried at a fast tempo, is full of dynamism that belies his age. At the same time, the solid interpretation and the supple, fresh music are the very best of his maturity.
