Ferenc Flitchai died at the young age of 48, and although he only recorded for 12 years (1949-1961), he is known as a legendary artist, a knowledgeable conducting master who could handle anything with skill. He was a conductor who combined a rigorous musical spirit with human warmth. The recordings he left behind are among the greatest in the history of postwar classical performance.
