Bach: Ach, Was Ist Doch Unser Leben? - Organ Works - Import CD

Credits:

Pietro Paganini

Description:

Ton Koopman's disciple!

Pietro Paganini plays Bach!

Italian-born keyboardist Pietro Paganini studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Stuttgart University of Music and Drama, and has studied with Ton Koopman, Vincent Bernard, and Lorenzo Ghielmi. He has participated in numerous international master classes. Specializing in a repertoire of works from the Baroque period, with an emphasis on works by Bach and his contemporaries, Paganini plays harpsichord and piano in addition to organ, and has performed in many European countries on prominent historical instruments. Highly sought after both as a soloist and as a bass continuo player, Paganini has performed in such prestigious halls as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Philharmonie in Paris, and the I Bay Music Hall in Amsterdam, as well as at various international music festivals.

Bach was recognized by his contemporaries as an unparalleled organist and composer of outstanding organ works. Curiously, autographs of the works Bach composed for his most noble instrument are extremely rare. The majority of his organ works have been preserved as later manuscripts, and the identity of their authors is unknown. As a result, a vast number of organ works have survived under Bach's name, which remains a challenge for researchers to this day.

This album couples three major works that are unquestionably genuine with works that were already considered to be Bach's works in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, but were falsified. Paganini uses the original organ (a 1734 Müller organ in the Vaalsee church in Amsterdam), and his performance aesthetic, based on historically informed registration, touch, articulation, and choice of ornamentation, beautifully brings out the magic of Bach's The music is brought out to its fullest potential. It is also important to note that Tini Mato, wife of Ton Koopman, is the producer.

Tokyo M-Plus
