After the October Revolution of 1917, Prokofiev fled to the U.S. and returned to the Soviet Union in the mid-1930s, where he was internationally active. He went on to produce successful works, including \"Romeo and Juliet,\" and composed the deeply expressive \"Violin Sonata No. 1\" at the same time. The unaccompanied sonata was commissioned by the Soviet Arts Committee and is a familiar piece with a neoclassical style, but due to the authorities' criticism of \"formalism\" in 1948, it was not published during Prokofiev's lifetime and was performed for the first time six years after his death. The album also includes four other arrangements, all of which, except for the five melodies, were arranged by other performers, and all of which make excellent use of the violin's characteristics. Heifetz's arrangement of the \"March\" was highly praised by Prokofiev himself.Slovenian violinist Lana Trotovšek, who studied with Jero Ricci, and Spanish pianist Maria Kaniguelal make for a wonderful ensemble.\n\n\n\n(Naxos Japan)\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Somm","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50716289696033,"sku":"4589538818401","price":189.0,"currency_code":"SEK","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538818401.jpg?v=1734945620","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-se\/products\/4589538818401","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
