He demonstrated his musical talent at an early age, became involved with the avant-garde music scene—including Fluxus—and moved to the United States, where he formed the Velvet Underground with Lou Reed. After leaving the band, he continued to influence the rock scene through his solo work and as a record producer for artists such as Nico, The Stooges, The Modern Lovers, and Patti Smith.\n\nReleased in 1970, this debut solo album consists entirely of Cale’s original compositions, with the exception of “M-11” by Garland Jeffreys.
