Building materials such as concrete, plaster, sand, and cement have long fascinated Clement because of their rapid transformation from liquid to hard in reaction to mixtures and temperature. In this project, Clement takes as his starting point various sound sources recorded at a cement factory, such as conveyor belts, grinding mills, and water quenchers, and uses composition and improvisation techniques to create diverse musical works from a random set of noises.
