The Gstaad Menuhin Festival, held every summer in Gstaad, Switzerland, was founded in 1957 by Menuhin, who owned a mountain villa in Gstaad, a famous summer resort in Switzerland. It also includes the Gstaad Academy, which is dedicated to nurturing young artists. The Gstaad Festival Orchestra is responsible for the climactic concert of the festival every year, and is composed of the best members of the Swiss orchestras and young musicians from the academy, with Christian as music director since 2010. This recording is a live performance from Stuttgart on their European tour immediately following the festival.In this recording, selected and composed by Christian Järvi, the well-known ballet music \"Swan Lake\" is performed in a new arrangement to highlight the tension-filled drama.
