However, following the breakup of Los Black Birds and The Turtles—two of the most important pioneering bands—two new groups emerged that would become indispensable to the history of Bolivian rock: the “mythical” The Climax and the “legendary” The Loving Darkes, the focus of this release.\n\nThis album, *LOSAMANTESOSCUROS*, is the first to compile on a single LP the original recordings made by The Loving Darkes between 1968 and 1969, which were previously released as three separate EPs on the local label “Lyra.” Packed with proto-punk covers of hits by the Stones, Cream, and Tony Hatch, the album features tracks that, when heard today, exude an attitude and power that surpass even the originals.\nTheir repertoire consists entirely of cover songs, including \"COMPLICADO\" (a cover of the Stones' \"Complicated\"), \"El Adivino\" (a high-speed version of the familiar Stones track \"Fortune Teller\"), and \"Algodetitere\" (a reimagining of \"Jumpin' Jack Flash\"), as well as superb reworkings of Tony Hatch's classic \"Call Me\" and Cream's \"TOAD.\" You can hear extremely rare tracks from this pivotal band, which paved the way for new sounds, styles, and aesthetics in a scene that was still in its infancy.
