The second concert was a combination of No. 1 using the Vienna manuscript and No. 7 recorded live at the Salzburg Festival in August 2021. This time, the second and eighth videos, recorded at the Musikverein in Vienna in February 2019, will be released. After the \"Symphony No. 1\" in C minor (first draft), completed in 1866 and premiered in 1868, Bruckner composed his \"D minor\" symphony in 1869. He originally intended this work to be \"Symphony No. 2,\" but in the end this work was never given a number, and it is now called \"Symphony No. 0,\" WAB.100. Bruckner then began work on his \"Second Symphony,\" which was completed in September 1972 and premiered by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1973 under the composer's own baton. However, it was later substantially modified and performed again in February 1876 (this is the second draft). In an interview with Thielemann in the bonus video, he says of performing the second and early symphonies, \"Bruckner's early symphonies are a group of works that deserve more attention. Bruckner's early symphonies deserve more attention. But they also present a great challenge to conductors, which is one of the reasons why they are avoided. This is partly because these early symphonies are a great challenge for conductors, and if they are not studied in detail, they simply become tedious and boring. Moreover, these early symphonies do not offer salvation from the start. On the other hand, Thielemann says that \"Symphony No. 8\" is the pinnacle of the symphony, and that the Haas version is perfect. Thielemann has performed Bruckner's Eighth Symphony in many of his symphonies, choosing the Haas version with the Vienna Philharmonic in 2007, the Novák version with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2008, and the Haas version with the Staatskapelle Dresden in 2009. Thielemann discusses the reasons for choosing the Haas edition here, as well as the editions used by other historical conductors in interviews. The contents of this interview are highly anticipated as we move toward the completion of the complete video collection.
