They hit it off about the wonders of the city of St. Louis and its orchestras. The Concerto for Orchestra, also dedicated to Denève and the St. Louis Symphony, was inspired by the shock of the May 2022 school shooting in Uvaldi, Texas, and by Hymn for the Hurting, written by the young American poet Amanda Gorman in response to that event. The six movements of this piece are in six different movements. The composition consists of six movements, with \"Hymn\" placed first, and then each movement focuses on a different section of the orchestra.Silent Night Elegy\" consists of music from the 2011 Pulitzer Prize-winning first opera \"Silent Night\" (NAXOS 8.669050), and largely traces the story of the opera through five sections that are performed in succession.
