At the age of 12, he served as a court musician to Elector Johann Georg II before entering the University of Leipzig.In 1697 he was transferred to Warsaw as musician to the royal court of Poland. At the same time, he also served as conductor of the Dresden court orchestra, especially in the tradition of Protestant church music. He developed the court orchestra under the rule of Augustus II (the Strong) and was in charge of music for religious ceremonies, plays, and ballets. Through his efforts, the Dresden Court Orchestra gained a reputation as the most modern and outstanding orchestra of its time. In 1714, he accompanied King Auguste on his tour of Versailles. After experiencing firsthand the music of Louis XIV's court, his subsequent works were a fusion of French and Italian musical styles. Many of his works, however, were lost in the fire of 1760. Schmidt's Orchestral Suite (Suite with Overture) was performed during events in the 17th and early 18th centuries and blends French and Italian musical styles. It reflects the new direction in composition and repertoire of court ensembles during this period.In particular, the Suite No. 3 features a competition between two sets of instrumental parts, suggesting Schmidt's new approach.\n\n\n\n(Naxos Japan)\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Cpo","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50716292579617,"sku":"4589538818326","price":110.0,"currency_code":"RON","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538818326.jpg?v=1734945638","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ro\/products\/4589538818326","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
