He took piano, organ, and harmony theory lessons at an early age, and studied composition and organ performance with Louis Vierne in Paris. He continued his studies at the Schola Cantorum in Paris with Vincent Dandy and André Marchal. At the age of 11, he participated in seminary functions as an organist. His organ works, especially the four organ symphonies, were influenced by his teacher Vierne, and although they require a high level of skill to play, the complex counterpoint and harmonies create a wonderful acoustic effect that rivals that of large orchestras. Although there are only a few recordings of Fouchard's works due to difficulties in obtaining the rights to the scores, Friedhelm Flamme, who has previously recorded some of his works, performs all of the organ works on this disc. This is an opportunity to enjoy the mysterious works of a great unknown artist.
