The album fuses two genres—anthemic pop-punk and melancholic, Auto-Tuned rap—that influence each other more than ever before, and features the most guest appearances in ToroyMoi’s discography. On the anti-love song “Madonna,” Don Toliver delivers a moody vocal performance. On “Heaven,” Kevin Abstract and Lev showcase their perfectly synchronized reflections. Emo king Benjamin Gibbard also joins in, embodying the pulse of millennial indie. Recorded over a few months from late 2023 to early 2024, *HoleErth* came together naturally during that brief period simply by Bear reaching out to his longtime friends. The sum of the parts on *HoleErth* is immense, particularly showcasing Bear’s skill as a producer within the hip-hop genre. His role within that culture has long been solidified by past collaborations with some of rap’s greatest pioneers. While this marked a bold shift in direction for Bear, it was not a difficult one.
