The enclosed letter stated, \"I am enjoying the sonatas as they still sound splendid 50 years after they were composed. Although a harpsichord was specified by Bach for this sonata, here we use an instrument modeled after the Zilberman fortepiano that both Bach and C.P.E. Bach loved in their later years, to sound as they might have played and heard it. Violinist Karkinen-Pilk studied baroque violin with Lucie van Dal and others, and has played in orchestras by Brüggen, Kuijken, Mortensen, and Herreweghe. Hakkila has made many recordings of classical and romantic music on period instruments, including Mozart: Piano Sonatas on the Finlandia label. The beautiful tone and natural phrasing of the violin and the soft, deep sound of the fortepiano. A remarkable recording of this masterpiece has been created.
