Together with musicologists, they have thoroughly analyzed and verified the conditions of Beethoven's first performances, and recorded them using the same instruments and compositions as at the time, and even the same venue as at the first performance. Of course, there are cases in which the venue of the first performance has not survived, but this is the historic city of Vienna. This project was made possible in part by the fact that some of the halls remain as they were in their original state. This album, the seventh in the series, is a combination of the Piano Concerto No. 4 and Symphony No. 4. The two pieces, composed at about the same time, were premiered in March 1807 at a private concert of the Marquise Lopkowicz in Vienna, and this live recording is the entire concert held at the venerable Lopkowicz residence in the same setting in which they were first performed. The piano is played by Gottlieb Wallisch, who, as in the previous recording of \"D major,\" uses an 1825 period instrument to achieve a sound close to Beethoven's original.
