Why has Scherchen's popularity declined so much? I suspect that the poor sound quality of Scherchen's previously released CDs may be a factor. So, we have decided to test the true value of Scherchen with the Mara 7 from the British Nixa first edition LP and the Mara 5 from the U.S. Westminster first edition LP, which we have had in our possession for some time. The first one is Mara 7 from Nixa, which weighs 200 grams, and the sound of the early thick vinyl is really astonishing. The condition of the vinyl disc is very good, and there are some scratch noises in all the tracks, which are probably caused by the aging of the vinyl chloride. No noise reduction treatment has been applied. The absence of any label whiskers also suggests that the needle was not threaded under the initial heavy needle pressure that damaged the sound grooves. What is surprising, by the way, is the amazing recording technology of the Westminster Company of the time. Compared to HMV's Furtwängler sound of the same period, it is clear that there is a big difference. This is a must for Mahler fans as well as those who say \"I don't like Mahler,\" especially those who have no clue about the Mara 7! I hope you will give this disc a listen. In fact, I, too, have finally become familiar with the Mara 7s through this disc.
