Playgroup/Underdog), who has released albums in 12 different formats on the vinyl factory label, has released a new album from the On-U Sound archive. This is a compilation of the avant-garde side of On-U Sound, which specializes in electro, and includes gems from the On-U Sound archive, rare tracks, unreleased tracks, and even remixes! The collection contains a lot of extreme sounds of the era, realized with the essence of electronics, reverb-enhanced drum machines, and excessively chopped tape edits, all of which have the DNA of dub.Rare and now hard to find tracks such as the dub syndicate "Over Board" (Disc1:M-2) with Jah Wobble, "Dub Storm" (Disc2:M-1) released by Tackhead under the name Fats Comet on Rough Trade, "Kunta Kinte Dub" (Disc2:M-5) by The Singers & Players, "Dead Come Kinte Dub" by Nena Cherry, and a superb early (30 years ago) work by Nena Cherry, "Dead Come Dub" by The Singer's & Players. & Players' "Kunta Kinte Dub" (Disc 2: M-5), Nena Cherry's excellent early (30 years ago) "Dead Come Alive" (Disc 1: M-10), and three completely unreleased tracks, including Shara Nelson's wonderful debut "Aiming At" by Shara Nelson before she joined Massive Attack.
