Fellow locals drummer Lewis Hayes, bassist Doug Watkins, and guitarist Kenny Burrell join the two for this energetic session, along with trumpeter Idrees Sleeman! Although Tommy Flanagan had become one of the most highly regarded jazz pianists, his appearances during this period were primarily as a sideman, and although he was highly regarded by his fellow musicians, he was not recognized by a larger audience as having demonstrated superior ability. This album, featuring almost all of Flanagan's compositions, allowed the pianist to shine.
