A respected clavier player and theorist, he is considered a representative of the North German \"polysensorial style.\n\n\n\nEmanuel's most famous works are solo keyboard pieces.These solo keyboard works, which appear throughout, show a similar but different character, with Emanuel's unique style of abrupt remote modulations, unexpected departures from fluid expression reminiscent of the written form, melodic forms that resemble emotional spoken inflections, and rigorous strong-weak method directives.
