In October 1968, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated and the nation was rocked by racial discrimination, Monk performed a concert on campus in response to a high school boy's wish to unite people through jazz, and the entire recording is included. He led the regular quartet of the time in a passionate performance of \"Blue Monk,\" \"Epistrophe,\" and other signature tunes.More than half a century after the concert, massive protests against discrimination against blacks are still taking place across the United States, and with the world's attention focused on these developments, it is of great significance that this previously unreleased live recording is now being released.
